How are you celebrating Halloween today?
We aren't doing anything special at all. We're recording Ghost Hunters (LIVE!) during their investigation of Waverly Hills Sanatorium, which is up in Kentucky. Hopefully soon Kristen, Kevin, and I will get to take a site seeing tour up there!!
Today, we had an "observer" request to be sent do a different branch due to the hostility and negativity she felt from a few of the other people at the office. It was really quite disgusting the way she was treated by select people in my branch. It reminded me so much of high school. It made me want to break away and not be a part of any of *that* anymore... Cliques and separatism now just baffle and infuriate me. We are adults. Not teenagers, and we should act like civilized grownups rather than the useless cheerleaders and spoiled brats some of us have grown up (or not grown up, maybe) to be.
We have been going thru a merger at work. It's a bit hellacious. All this talk about how smooth the transition would be, how the first phase earlier this year worked out a lot of kinks, how we were all poised to get going with the new systems, none of that has really held true in my opinion. The day of the official systems change I worked a 14 hour day, but there was another associate there for an extra hour just trying to get all her stuff completed! Crazy... it just seems that with $140bil in assets we could have things in place. Ugh.
I am a big fan of P!nk, and her song, Who Knew, is one of my favs... it was recently listed on my amazon.com page as something I might be interested in. It was a Ringle. That's right. A Ringle. Not a ring tone. Not a single. A Ringle. It's an actual disc with a couple of versions of the song, but it also gives you the opportunity to download the song in ring tone format for your cellular phone.
This just seems a bit much to me. A Ringle??? Really??? It seems as it we can't get things crammed into each other enough these days. Our lives are so hectic we have to compress buying two normally separated things into one thing. I'm not saying it's not handy. It is, but is it really necessary...?
What's your favorite appetizer to order at a restaurant?
I would have to say my favorite "you-can-find-it-anywhere" app would have to be cheese sticks. A classic, and a widespread favorite. If I had to pick a true favorite, I'd probably say the macaroni balls at The Cheesecake Factory. They are truly amazing!
The newest stuff I've bought is all really good stuff... I got Bruce Springsteen's Magic, which since I've always been a fan of The Boss, it's great. More like classic Springsteen stuff, which I suppose has to do with the E Street Band.
I also have Kanye West's Graduation. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. He reminds me a lot of Lauryn Hill (back before she was crazy). The music itself is really really great, and there's just something incredibly smart about his lyrics.
I also have the new Annie Lennox CD, Songs of Mass Destruction. It's got a very dark undertone, and it's very haunting, but it's beautiful... highly recommended.
= Amazing. I don't care what people say about him. He's a great artist.
= Fascinating. While she's kept herself out of the spotlight, when she shines, she's very, very bright.
Well, I have to say that I am really impressed with the lineup ABC has offered up this season.
Ugly Betty is back and still so very funny. It seems the writers have given us even more tongue in cheek humor. Justin has more of a presence so far, and Amanda is so much more than just the receptionist Daniel slept with!! I can't wait to find out more about her daddy!
I'm also THRILLED with Pushing Daisies. It's absolutely GREAT!! Not only for the near and dear Kristin Chenoweth, but also for the creator, Bryan Fuller, who has done such wonderful things as Wonderfalls. This is very much in that same vein, and it's really really great stuff. If you don't know him, imagine the mind of Tim Burton mixed with the mind of a 14 year old girl. Fun stuff!!
We also caught the premier of Samantha Who starring Christina Applegate. It was absolutely hilarious!! I cannot say enough about how freakin' funny this show is! It's truly laugh out loud stuff, and these days, there's not so much of that out there. The pilot ep packed a lot into it's 22 minutes, but it wasn't overwhelming, it was't unbelievable, it wasn't even overly fast paced. It was just right...
My only complaint is that the network actually aired Cavemen. While I have not seen it, I do not intent to see it. I just don't see how a Geico commercial could even stand a chance as a sitcom!?! Maybe it's a side splitter... I don't know. I do know I don't wanna know any more about it. If you're a watcher, and ya like it, good for you! Enjoy it while it lasts... Something tells me it won't be around long.
Anywho, if you haven't and you wanna, you know you can catch these on ABC.com now. They show FULL episodes!! TV + Internet = Fabulous!
Ya know, since the inception of that mask as a prop, I wonder how many crimes have been committed by people wearing it?? I heard a news report this morning about a convenience store being robbed by a vandal wearing one of these...
