If you could write like one fiction author, who would it be?

I think I'd pick Stephen King because he has the ability to draw a reader in very quickly. He also has such an expansive cast when you consider his works... cars, clowns, ordinary people, vampires, nuns, cats, and even kids can be terrifying. Plus, the wealth from writing like him would be a nice added bonus!
If you haven't watched SNL in a while, you should tune in sometime... I am loving the new cast. Maya Rudolph, tho not new, is HILARIOUS!! Christina Wigg does this great sketch about a cashier at Target who talks funny. You can find the clips on either at youtube or at the SNL site itself. The ep with Drew Barrymore was great, and it's replaying again on March 3rd!! They have the SNL Digital Shorts quite often and those have gotten much funnier over the past couple of years. Andy Popping Into Frame is so simple it's great! I am also a big fan of the Nuni's, but there are only a couple of vids of them out there. I just LOVE hearing Maya trying to say the names of the guests!! I crack up EVERY time!
Anyway, just wanted to offer a suggestion to ya!

Who was your best (or worst) elementary school teacher?
Submitted by Minnow.
I'd say my best would be my sixth grade teacher, Ms. Henderson. She was awesome. She taught us cool things that were somewhat outside the normal learning plan. We learned sign language, we got to help out watching the first graders, we got to kinda do our own things a lot with her. I had to switch schools for a time during that year and she even came to visit me at my sister's house to see how I was doing. She later became an elementary school counselor at the high school I went to. One day while walking out to the parking lot after school she was struck by lightning. She was fine, but I just thought it was odd. There's something about her... Like out of all the people, she'd be the one to get it and be totally okay. :)
The worst most of us who went to Plainview Elementary ever had was Mrs. Hughes. She was MEAN. She paddled me (the one and only time I ever got a paddling) for doing excercise A rather than excercise B in our Grammar books. She made us push back out cuticles till it hurt, and later, when my niece went to school there, she was fired for throwing a kid out of his desk across the classroom (or so it was rumored). Her husband, who was my 5th grade teacher, was GREAT. They were such an ODD couple.
Kevin has been listening to this thing, The Secret... it's all about the law of attraction in the universe and getting what you want by wanting it. I haven't paid a LOT of attention to it, but I can't help but overhear it when I'm surfing around the net or playing video games... it's interesting, but there are moments where I'm like, "This is CRAZY!!" Positive thinking is a great tool, I do believe that, but ...having this power over EVERYthing?? I dunno. Oprah says she's done it all her life, and look where it got her. I keep waiting to hear, "All you have to do is send $499.99 to us here at The Secret and we'll send you all the answers you already have!! You can be a MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE!!" So far, it's not Jesus-y, or money hungry, or even scheme-y. But, like I said, some of it's kinda out there. Worth a listen, I'd say... just look for the links online. They seem to be everywhere.
Last night I had a very odd dream... I was very wealthy and decided I would buy some animals to live in my home. I bought several lions, small rodents, koalas, monkies, and lizards. They all roamed free in the house. The lions became wild and began hunting everything else. Including me. I ended up climbing up into the rafters of my vaulted ceiling in one of the small bedrooms and hiding in there with the door closed. The monkies figured out how to open it. Every now and then a lizard or a lemur would wander in and I would call it up there with me to save it. Sometimes a lion would walk by the doorway and would spot me and growl and roar at me since I couldn't be reached up there...
Very odd.
So, apparently there's a couple in Georgia who believe in corporal punishment as part of their religious beliefs... they beat their son with a glue stick and locked him in a trunk. The child died. The parents went on trial for it. Last night, in one of the segments on the channel 4 news here in Nashville, we saw scenes from the courtroom. One scene was of the prosecuting attorney lighting 8 candles on a tiny birthday cake and singing happy birthday "for all the birthdays [the child] wouldn't celebrate." Now, as astonished as I was that the prosecuting attorney would take this case to this level, Kevin pointed out something even more amazing. The judge presiding over the case allowed it...
Who or what do you really love?
mmmmm... watermelon.
Today, I was catching up on some Tivo eps of Rachel Ray, and I watched the Ali Larter segment. First off, how down to earth she seemed on the show! I love her! But, how excited am I about hearing her mention that she did RESIDENT EVIL 3 with Milla Jovovich!!! I was just wondering the other day if we'd be seeing any more outta that franchise, since it had been a long time since I'd heard mention of Extinction, and that it may or may not happen... and then, tah-dah! I hear it from the horses mouth! I am a big fan of the game, and LOVED playing it back when it was new, (how creepy were the ceiling tarantulas, and how many times did my heart skip a beat over the dobermans!)and I did play a couple of the sequels, but never really kept up with it. I like both the movies, even tho I must say they weren't the best thing I've ever seen. (But I did like them better than Silent Hill!) Anyway, I was even more excited to learn that Ali will be playing Claire! An added bonus as she was a favorite character. Anywho, I'm psyched about it. I guess I can add that to the list of fall movies I'll wanna see!
I am so ready for JULY 07! I'm eagerly awaiting two summer spectaculars, Hairspray (7.20.07) and Transformers (7.04.07)!! Two very different films, I know, but both full of excitement and action and thrills!
If you've never seen John Waters' classic campy 1988 film with Ricki Lake, you should REALLY check it out. Hilarious! And if you're a fan of the original, you should check out the musical version. It's also great! And who doesn't want to see John Travolta in drag??? C'mon, it's gonna be so funny! The only thing I'm a bit sad over is that one of my favorite songs from the musical will be cut from the big screen. Producers have decided to remove Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now. There are a couple of new songs tho, and favorites like Cooties and (The Legend of) Miss Baltimore Crabs are still there, if a little varied from what we might have grown to love from the '02 Broadway cast recording. I know it will be a hoot, and there are supposed to be a couple of cameos to look for as well from Mr. Waters', and the original Tracy Turnblad, Ricki Lake!! I'll be getting my tickets early for sure!
As for Transformers, I will be seeing this on opening day for sure. I grew up with this cartoon and had (okay, still have!) the toys. I LOVE the idea of cars, boats, cassettes, and planes turning into robots to fight for, or against us! When I heard the news that Optimus Prime would be voiced by the original, Peter Cullen, I was thrilled!! There's nothing better than hearing him saying, "Autobots! Transform and roll out!" The trailers out there still leave much to be desired, but how freakin' awesome does it look! There have been some changes from the 80's ideas, like Bumblebee being a Mustang rather than a VW Beetle, and Megatron being much more evil and menacing than his cartoon image, but as far as I'm concerned, as long as we get the characters we know and love, it won't matter what form they take.
Now, if we could only get a Jem movie in the works...
