Apparently in the Navajo culture there is a tale of a creature called a Yeenaaldlooshii, or SkinWalker. This Witch of sorts is able to shape shift to various animal forms like a coyote, wolf, crow and others, and retains the skills of animals, and also seems to take on the form of a general blackness (or "shadow man") from time to time. Fascinating and frightening stuff. I've read an interesting tale while doing some research about one which whistles.
For me, this is a terrifying story, as I have had an experience when I was younger that is very similar.
The whistler still scares me to this day.
Anyone else out there have any personal experiences with supernatural/frightening whistling?
Tonite, Kevin and I and some friends went to The Cheesecake Factory in Green Hills... it was busy, as it was around 5pm or so when we got there. The bar and bar-tops were open, but all full up. We found two empty seats at the bar and congregated there. Nearby was a bar-top with two women. One of our friends asked the ladies if they were about to leave, which they were, but a small statured man and his small statured entourage piped up and told us they were getting the table... Moments passed and the waitress finally brought the ladies their check. They paid and stood to go and as they did, informed us they were leaving. We glanced around and noticed Shorty was no where in site. We pulled up to the table. As we did, Grumpy showed up saying that he was claiming the table. We politely told him that since he wandered off we assumed they had gotten a table and been seated and that the ladies had offered us the table now. He says to us in his huffy manor, "You're not going to be rude are you?" We were. We took the table...
We all agreed, this is a perfect example of the saying "You snooze, you lose."
Live and learn little man... don't wander off when there's a seat shortage.
On a side note, I had the Spicy Sesame Chicken and it was wonderful. Even good cold!!
Kevin and I opened some of our gifts last nite... he got me wonderful things, as usual. One (or 3) that was totally unexpected was a box that weighed about 20 pounds. As I picked it up I said, "Now I'm gonna open the bricks..."
As I unwrapped it and saw that it came from Danvers, Mass., I realized I had been correct.
He got me bricks from Danvers State Hospital!! I knew that there was an auction for them in the past, but when I had searched I came up empty handed. I assumed they were all gone. Now I own 3!! Yaaaay!

A long time ago - what seems like a lifetime ago - there was a moment one night while I was in bed with someone that we heard the sound of high heels on pavement. It was an odd moment. It was one of those parts of my life that I feel like I'll never ever forget. It sticks with me still. No matter where I am, I can here that sound, or even something that reminds me of that sound and I'm taken back there... I was a naive young boy then. I was lost in emotions that I really had no understanding of. My world could have been such a different thing than it is today if almost any one of the moments from that time were different. They all had such an impact on me. They all seem so etched in stone and burned forever into my memory. There's little in life I regret, but that's one of the spans of my life that I wish a lot of things had been done differently. I miss what might have been.
I think that by far my favorite place in Chattanooga was the art district area. It was absolutely gorgeous and it felt very inviting, quaint, homey, and was just so much fun to wander around in... I loved the shops there, too. We visited Rembrandt's for breakfast and it was great! We spent pretty much an entire day in the area just walking around taking pictures and visiting stores there. I really loved the Riverview Art Gallery, too. They had some amazing things... Someone's Christmas gift came from there!! There is a really nice museum there, too - Hunter Museum of American Art. I got to see an Andy Warhol that just happened to be Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.
I've put some pix here, but I've got a lot more at my flickr page.
These are some random shots from our visit to the Tennessee Aquarium...
There are more that I've uploaded to my photos, and also to my flickr page.
Do you tend to like music in particular genres, or are your tastes all over the place? What are your most and least favorite musical genres?
Take an auditory sampling from my musical library and you'd find artists ranging from Kathie Lee Gifford to Nirvana. I've got Broadway, I've got Prince. I've got Reba, and I've got Evanescence. I like LOTS of things. Lots of types, lots of styles, remixes, acoustics... I'm a fan of music in general.
